Celeb couple Pippa O’Connor and Brian Ormond stepped out for the opening of Miss Saigon at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre last night.
The musical, produced by the world renowned Cameron Mackintosh, went down a hit on the opening night – with audience members praising the production on social media.
Plenty of well-known faces were pictured on the red carpet, including Baz Ashmawy and his partner Tanja, Karen Koster, Aoibhinn McGinnity, and Colm Hayes.
Speaking about the musical, Cameron Mackintosh has previously said, “It’s hard to believe that it has been over 25 years since MISS SAIGON first opened, but if anything, the tragic love story of the show has become even more relevant today.
“This new production, directed by Laurence Connor, takes a grittier, more realistic approach than the original production while still delivering the power and epic sweep of Boublil and Schönberg’s tremendous score.”
The epic love story tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
With an exceptional score, lavish sets and an outstandingly talented cast and a company of 60, MISS SAIGON has played in 29 countries, 353 cities and has won 70 major theatre awards.
