Danny O'Donoghue: 'It was all in a day's work saving woman's life from motoway crash'

The Script star Danny O’Donoghue has said it was “all in a day’s work” saving a woman’s life from a car crash.

The Dubliners were on the way to a show in Manchester when they saw the car flip dramatically after hitting a barrier and rushed to help.

As Goss.ie told yesterday, they pulled over and helped the trapped woman from the smoking wreckage, who was lucky to escape with only minor injuries.

Speaking about his heroism, Danny said it wasn’t that big a deal. He added: “It’s all in a day’s work.”

He said “We called 911 then ran over to the car. She was trapped and saying she couldn’t feel her legs, which was scary. But we managed to unjam the door and get her out.”

The Irish band brought the woman to their tour bus to put a jacket over her, when it finally clicked who they were.

He added: “We were sat there and suddenly she said, ‘Oh my God, you’re The Script!’ Then she jumped out of the van. I was like, ‘sit down!’ She’s a big fan which is amazing.”

Speaking to a Manchester-based radio station, the 25-year-old in the car said she was saved by The Script – and was glad to be able to give them a cuddle afterwards.

She said: “I was hit by the side and it kept spinning round and round. Then they got me out of the car.

“There was all sorts going on at the same time. I gave them a cuddle before I left but I never said thank you.”
