Dancing With The Stars cast reunite for surprise birthday celebration

The show was forced to end abruptly back in March - due to the coronavirus pandemic

This year’s Dancing With The Stars cast reunited for the first time since lockdown over the weekend, to celebrate the birthday of professional dancer John Nolan.

Mary Kennedy, who was partnered with John on the RTÉ series, hosted the surprise bash in her back garden – ahead of John’s 30th birthday.

The mini reunion party saw Glenda Gilson, Brian Dowling and Grainne Gallanagh reunite along with the rest of this years’ stars.

Kilkenny hurler Aidan Fogarty, Fair City’s Ryan Andrews, and pro dancer Laura Nolan were also in attendance.

Grainne travelled from Donegal to Dublin for the event, and took to her Instagram Story to share the surprise.

“It’s John Nolan’s birthday and Mary Kennedy is having a surprise party for him today so I’m not going to post this until later on today as I don’t want to be the one to ruin the surprise which knowing my luck is a possibility,” she stated.

The show was forced to end abruptly in March, as the final was brought forward a week due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The final was filmed without a studio audience, and Lottie Ryan and her pro partner Pasquale La Rocca ended up being crowned the winners.

Earlier this year, DWTS boss Larry Bass opened up about the future of the show – reassuring fans that it will go ahead next year.

“Dancing With The Stars was commissioned before we started last year’s run so we will sit down and engage with RTE in a month or two about what way we will look at that next year and what will restrictions be like then,” he told the Irish Mirror.

“It is very hard for anyone to forecast that, so we gotta let time tick away and see where life resumes and how and what we’ll do.”

“We look forward to casting for 2021 later in the year, but it’s not something we can even speculate on at the moment because we don’t know what people are going to be doing,” he said.

Dublin GAA star Bernard Brogan has already been tipped to appear on next year’s show.
