Daisy Edgar-Jones shares sweet tribute to Paul Mescal as he misses out on Golden Globes nomination

Daisy Edgar-Jones has shared a sweet tribute to Paul Mescal after he missed out on a Golden Globes nomination.

On Wednesday, the British actress was nominated for her role as Marianne in the popular Irish drama Normal People, while Paul missed out on a nod for his role as Connell.

The 22-year-old is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category, and took to her Instagram to share her delight at the nomination.

She wrote: “Oh my actual goodness I am in absolute shock… Thank you so much @goldenglobes for this nomination it truly means the world.”

“I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to play a character as complex, spiky, deep and wonderful as Marianne.”

Paying tribute to her co-star Paul, the actress added: “It’s also been one of the biggest privileges of my life to have worked across from @paul.mescal.”

” I was blown away every day by his generosity and incredible talent. What a team we are, I’m so proud of the NP family, soon we will have shots of celebratory baby Guinness’ and I can’t wait! 🥰”.

Irish actor Paul replied: “You’re the best daisy ❤️”.

Normal People was also nominated in the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category.

Taking to his Instagram Stories following the news of the nominees, Paul congratulated his co-stars for their achievements.

Sharing a snap with Daisy, the Kildare native wrote: “Could not be prouder of you my friend.”

The 25-year-old said of Normal People’s nomination: “Again unbelievably proud of this show and everyone who worked on it.”

Daisy will go up against Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), Shira Haas (Unorthodox), Nicole Kidman (The Undoing), and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit).

Normal People will go up against The Queen’s Gambit, Small Axe, The Undoing, and Unorthodox.

This year’s ceremony will be broadcast from New York and Los Angeles on February 28th, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
