The show is set to be broadcast from Japan on New Year’s Eve.

A source told the publication “Conor is on the edge of signing. There is no direct combat involved so it doesn’t breach his UFC contract and he should be fine to take part.”

Superstars first aired in 1973, the pits athletes from different sports against each other in a version of the Olympic decathlon.

McGregor and Mayweather fought in 2017, and promoted the fight with a worldwide promo tour.

The battle became known as “The Money Fight” and “The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History” thanks to the huge publicity and massive paycheck both stars walked away with.
