Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin engaged – a timeline of the longterm sweethearts’ romance

Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin officially announced their engagement on Saturday, after the MMA fighter popped the question ahead of Dee’s 33rd birthday today.

The couple met back in 2008 when Conor was just 19 years old, now sharing two children together.

The Notorious previously opened up about the first time he laid eyes on Dee, revealing he spotted her in a nightclub soon after quitting his plumbing apprenticeship.

“She seemed like a nice girl, and I like good girls,” he told VIP Magazine.

In 2013, Conor made his debut on the MMA scene – knocking out Max Holloway and winning Knockout of the Night.

“He was already training when I met him, so I really admired his dedication to that,” Dee told VIP, while Conor admitted his future with the 33-year-old is what motivated him to be successful.

“I’m doing this to secure my family’s future and Dee’s future. One day, I want myself and Dee to be able to chill on a beach and not have any worry in the world.”

“That’s why I’m doing this. I want to be financially secure by the time I have kids. When that happens, I want to be ready.”

Conor has always stated that he wouldn’t be where he is today without his fiancée, opening up about their relationship to MMAFighting ahead of his 2015 victory over Chad Mendes.

“My girlfriend has been there since the start. She has helped me throughout this career. If it wasn’t for her, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.”

“My girlfriend worked very hard throughout the years and stuck by me when I had essentially absolutely nothing. I only had a dream that I was telling her.”

“For me to be able to take her out of work, give her everything she’s ever wanted and to travel the world with her fills me with pride. It keeps me going. We’ve been together a long time. She’s been through it all with me.”

After Conor was crowned undisputed UFC featherweight champion in December that same year, Dee shared an emotional tribute to the star on Instagram.

“Words can’t describe this,” she wrote, “What an absolutely unbelievable night!”

“I’m so proud to be part of this journey with you babe, you are the true definition of a champion and nobody deserves it more!”

Prior to becoming the first fighter in UFC history to reign over two divisions simultaneously, as he stripped the lightweight title off Eddie Alvarez in Madison Square Garden in 2016 – Conor announced that he and Dee were expecting their first child together.

“I’m going to be a daddy early next year,” he announced during his post-fight press conference in New York.

“It’s going to mess with my head. I just want to have this baby and take some time. I’ve got a family now, so I want ownership. I want an equal share.

“Bring me in on this for real. Make me an owner. I need to be set for life.”

In January 2017, Conor announced the gender of their baby – telling MMA journalist Ariel Helwani that the couple were expecting a boy.

“The only time my records are going to be broken is by him,” he shared, “I’m going to train this child.”

He added: “I hope when it comes down to it I can settle down when I have a child. I hope I can man up and be a father.”

On May 6th 2017, Dee gave birth to Conor Junior – before announcing her second pregnancy the following year.

In January 2019, their second child and first daughter Croia entered the world – with Conor sharing a sweet snap leaving the hospital with his two children.

“Heading home with my two healthy babies and an energized and healthy SuperMam,” he wrote.

“2019 is off to the best start! Thank you for the well wishes everybody!”

Later that year, the family-of-four moved to a €2million Kildare mansion – bought off the son of former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds.

The luxurious home contains five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen and games room – along with a gym and a cinema room.

The couple celebrated Halloween last year dressed up as the Incredibles family – with Conor Junior and Croia also joining in on the fun.

After a whirlwind romance of over 12 years, Conor finally popped the question to Dee yesterday.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Conor wrote: “What a birthday, my future wife!”

The UFC star’s coach John Kavanagh commented: “Fantastic, congratulations ❤️”, while Conor’s sister Erin wrote: “I’m so so happy.”
