Colm Hayes announces departure from RTE’s 2FM

It has been revealed that Colm Hayes is set to leave RTE’s 2FM to focus on different ventures.

The much loved presenter has been with the radio station since 2007 and worked with the late great Gerry Ryan.

“Colm Hayes is one of the most outstanding broadcasters in the country,” Dan Healy, head of 2FM, stated in the press release.

Dan took over the radio station in June 2013 and has made huge changes since.

From Larry Gogan’s Golden Hour moving to the weekend, as well as Rick O’Shea and Will Leahy both moving to weekend slots giving younger and up and coming hosts a chance including Eoghan McDermott and Nicky Byrne.

“Colm Hayes is one of the most outstanding broadcasters in the country. Over the last ten years he has produced some of the best radio on 2fm. Along with my colleagues I wish him continued success in his future career,” he continued.

Colm Hayes commented, “I’ve loved my time at 2fm, and now is the time to move on. Just as 2fm is evolving and changing, so am I. I wish all the team in 2fm the best of luck and I’d like to say thank you to all the people I have worked with in RTÉ over the last ten years.”
