Cliona Hagan shares heartache after losing young family member to Covid-19

Cliona Hagan has shared her heartache after the death of her cousin due to the coronavirus.

The Dancing With The Stars contestant tragically lost her 44-year-old cousin Lee last month, after he contracted the deadly virus.

The country singer opened up about the loss to The Sun on Sunday, admitting: “Because Lee was young, I thought he’d pull through but he didn’t.

“He was the life and soul of the party, I can’t believe he’s gone.”

“He was young and I thought Covid was more dangerous with older people and he would get better as the days went on.

“We were just praying he would pull through. Then to get the word he would die in the next few hours was devastating.

“He held on for a day or two, the poor dear, and then he died,” Cliona shared.

“I feel so much for his wife and his three children. Lee had never before in hospital for anything, he was a young man with a young family. It just shows you this virus can take anyone,” she added.

“My whole family are devastated and in shock. All I can think is you have to try and move forward with your life.”

Cliona admitted that singing at her late cousin’s funeral was “one of the most special things” she had done, adding that she would “never forget” Lee.
