Cliona Hagan reveals the coronavirus pandemic had a ‘big impact’ on her earnings

Cliona Hagan has revealed that the coronavirus pandemic had a “big impact” on her earnings.

The Irish country singer announced her engagement to Simon Sheerin on Christmas Eve, sharing photos of her stunning ring to Instagram.

The 31-year-old explained that the musical couple’s wedding plans had been put on hold while they save, after being unable to gig in recent months.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, the former Dancing With The Stars contestant said: “Every couple has to save for their wedding and we are no different.”

“Of course, Covid has had a big impact on our earnings so we are just going to have to wait.

“It’s not a big deal because we’re still really in the engagement stage — and so, so happy.”

Opening up about her wedding plans, the Tyrone native said she wants a “big Irish wedding with lots of friends and family”.

“I’m not a big lavish kind of girl. What I’d love is a country wedding in Ireland because I think we have the most beautiful country,” she explained.

“And I also don’t want to go somewhere far away because I have so many dear family members who are that bit older and I wouldn’t expect them to travel.

“But most of all I want to get married in Ireland because you have the most craic here,” Cliona added.

“Like everyone in the world right now… if we can have the wedding this year, great, but if not, we can do it next year. Myself and Simon both agree we are going to take it one day at a time.”
