Claire Byrne set for to leave her TV Show for new role in RTÉ

Claire Byrne looks set to leave her TV show, after reports she has landed a brand new show on RTÉ radio.

The broadcaster has reportedly been offered The Today Show, RTÉ’s flagship mid-morning show, following in the footsteps of most recent host Sean O’Rourke, and before that, Pat Kenny.

It would mean that presenter Sarah McInerney, who was also in the running for the gig, would move into a more TV-focused role.

“Claire intends to give 100 per cent to the Today Show,” a source told The Irish Sun.

“She will be stepping into the shoes of previous Today hosts like Pat Kenny and Sean O’Rourke.

“You can’t be going head-to-head with politicians and at the same time worrying about a TV show that night,” the insider added.

The mother-of-three had already hinted that she could be leaving Claire Byrne Live if she go the new radio gig.

“That job is two hours a day, five days a week, so it would be tough and I don’t know what it would mean for my TV show,” she said last week.

Sources say this could mean the axing of Claire Byrne Live completely, and instead another episode of Prime Time would air, with Sarah McInerney presenting.

In the latest episode of #GossChats, social media star and TV presenter James Patrice addresses the recent cancellation of Dancing With The Stars, being single during lockdown and creating viral hits with his family.

Goss Chats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve.
