Chris O’Dowd has opened up about becoming a father for the first time.
The Bridesmaids star welcomed son Art into the world last month, with wife Dawn O’Porter.
Describing the moment his son was born, Chris said it as “incredible”.
“It was an incredible moment, a hard thing to describe,” he said.

“I found initially in those moments right after the birth, which was really dramatic and scary, my initial concern was that Dawn was OK.
“Almost secondarily you are dealing with the fact that this new person is in the world. Then five minutes later you are, ‘Oh my God’ and holding him in your arms.
“You feel suddenly like you are an antique-shop owner holding this incredibly fragile thing in your hands.”

Speaking to the Mirror Chris added that being a father has been amazing, saying it’s felt so natural from the beginning.
“It is fantastic – it’s a role that you can’t in any way prepare for, but I have been really loving it.
“He is an absolute sweetheart… It feels very natural which I didn’t think it would. I thought it would be more of
a dramatic change,” he explained.

But there is no hope of Chris and Dawn settling down with Art in Ireland.
Speaking about his award winning series Moone Boy, Chris said the show is the perfect way for his son to learn about his heritage.
“It’s a great comedic documentary of my childhood. It is unlikely we will ever settle in Boyle so I can show it to Art and he will know a bit
about where I grew up,” he explained.
“We are going back in a month or so so Art can meet the family. I miss home a lot,” he added.
