Celebrity Operation Transformation set to hit screens this Autumn

The team behind Operation Transformation are working on a star-studded spin-off show, that will show celebrities getting fit on camera.

The hit RTÉ show, hosted by Kathryn Thomas, is now looking for some well-known faces to take part in the challenge, with potential contestants being promised that there will be no “humiliation” or “fat shaming”, as the revealing weekly weigh-in segment will be cut out of the show.

According to Evoke.ie, Vision Independent Productions have started casting for the spin-off series, which will feature six well-know faces that will aim to slim down through weekly challenges.

Fitness expert Karl Henry has been confirmed to help the celebs shed the pounds. Kathryn Thomas has also been confirmed to reprise her role as the motivational host, while Ray D’Arcy’s RTÉ radio show will broadcast weekly updates and interviews with contestants.

A source told the Mail, “It is a very exciting prospect. This is not about fat-shaming celebrities. The same ethos applies to the celeb version as the original format and we won’t be humiliating anybody.”

“This is about promoting a healthier lifestyle and getting celebrities on who maybe want to lose a few pounds or change their eating habits is what we are after.

“This is not I’m A Celebrity… it is about creating positive messages with some wellknown faces. The celebs will not have to strip off completely for the weigh-in; that is totally their choice. But we hope that they will get into the spirit of the show,” the source added.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for RTÉ confirmed that Celebrity Operation Transformation was being cast, and will hit our screens on RTÉ One this autumn.

“We are currently developing a spin-off series of Operation Transformation which we hope to air in early autumn. However, we’re not in a position to comment further on it at this time,” the spokesman revealed.
