Brian Redmond lands brand new role following Dancing With The Stars cancellation

Brian Redmond has landed a brand new role following the cancellation of Dancing With The Stars this year.

Last month, RTÉ confirmed the next season of the hit TV show wouldn’t be going ahead, as they felt it was too “risky” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The TV judge will now join the team at KCLR with a new Saturday morning breakfast show called The Breakfast Buffet.

Speaking ahead of his first primetime radio gig, Brian said: “I have really enjoyed the experience of learning about radio over the last 8 months thanks to all the team at KCLR.”

“Being offered the chance to develop and present my own weekend breakfast show is a challenge that I am really excited to be taking on.”

“It couldn’t have come at a better time for me with not having Dancing With The Stars in 2020 due to the difficulties presented by Covid 19, so I suppose I have swapped Sunday evenings for Saturday morning and hopefully in 2021 I will have to take on both challenges together.”

Brian has been presenting the station’s Saturday evening music show Saturday with the Stars for the last eight months, and has also filled in for presenters of various other programmes while they were on leave.

His new show will air from 7am to 9am every Saturday morning, bring listeners an eclectic mix of music, fun, giveaways and celebrity chat as well as local news for the people of Kilkenny and Carlow.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Brian wrote: “Well the news is out, from now on I shall be in bed before the 9 o clock news is finished on a Friday evening.”

“Weekend breakfast radio here we go, starting this Saturday from 7am on @kclr96fm with my new show, The Breakfast Buffet. So I’m off to the shops to make sure I have enough coffee in the house.”

KCLR station manager said: “I am delighted to reveal that we are adding Brian Redmond to our Saturday morning schedule.

“Brian brings huge media experience and will be a great asset to our talented on air team. We wish him the best of luck on his new programme.”
