Brian Dowling has revealed how his daughter Blake reacted to becoming a big sister.
The presenter and his husband Arthur Gourounlian announced the birth of their second child, Blu Amar Rose Dowling Gourounlian, in June.
The couple have been married since 2015, and already share a daughter named Blake, aged 1.
The family-of-four appeared on The Six O’Clock Show yesterday, where they revealed how they are coping with the new addition to their family.
They decided they wanted another child when their eldest was just six months old.
Arthur explained: “We wanted her to have a sibling so we were like, ‘Let’s try, if it doesn’t work – it doesn’t work, we’re blessed with one beautiful child’.|
“But we tried and thank god she’s here. They’re going to grow together like best friends.”
Brian continued: “When you’re doing surrogacy there’s actually no guarantees.
“We’re very lucky – we got pregnant each time the first time. We’ve been so blessed.”
The parents confessed that at first Blake was less than impressed with her baby sister’s arrival.
The 46-year-old said: “She was on death’s door nearly when we arrived home from the hospital and introduced her to Blu. She was sobbing.”
Arthur added: “No exaggeration, she was sobbing but at the same time she was like, ‘Who are you? What’s happening here?’.”
“There was so many people, all the sisters were there. She kept touching her and going, ‘Who are you, you’re going to go in a minute’.”
Brian admitted: “There was also this noise, there’d be a slap to the forehead and she’s obsessed with shoving her fingers down Blu’s mouth.”
“But we can’t wait until Blu gets teeth.”
Sharing the birth of their second child on Instagram in June, Brian and Arthur wrote: “Please be upstanding for the arrival of our BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, Blu Amar Rose Dowling Gourounlian.”
”Blu was delivered safely on Sunday, June 23rd, at 13:33h, weighing 6lb 2ozs.”
