Brendan Courtney has revealed he received homophobic hate mail in the run-up to the marriage equality referendum.
A post card was sent to the TV presenters address and was littered with anti-gay messages.
“You are a real f****t, do you understand,?” they wrote.

“Keep repeating ‘I’m a f****t’ and you will get the message. Vote No No No,” they said.
Brendan took to social media to respond to the vile postcard and slammed the writer for being a coward.
“Just received my 1st hate mail ! Addressed To my shop! Un signed of course ! Shame on the Cowards! How many YES campaigners have posted hate ! NONE!” he wrote.

TV stars Eoghan McDermott and Daniella Moyles both voiced their support for the Off The Rails host.
“I note their inability to spell the offending word correctly. Thick AND an asshole in one fell swoop. Impressive,” Eoghan said.
Meanwhile, Daniella assured Brendan that the troll probably didn’t know how to register to vote for the referendum.

“What a weird thing to take the time out of your day to do? I feel really, really sorry them and their miserable life,” she wrote.
“I also have a feeling they might struggle with the registration process so not to worry.”
The marriage equality referendum takes place Friday May 22.
