Aoibhin Garrihy has posted an emotional tribute to her husband John Burke, as he continues his challenging trek to Mount Everest.
The former Fair City star’s husband will travel to the peak of the world’s highest mountain in the Himalayas, and Aoibhin couldn’t be more proud.
Posting an adorable snap of the pair hugging at a base camp, Aoibhin wrote, “Said a very hard goodbye to my best friend today as he follows his dream and faces some of the toughest few weeks of his life.”
“Could not be prouder of you John Burke no matter what happens,” she gushed.
Aoibhin and John, who became husband and wife last year, jetted off the Nepal earlier this month – right after Aoibhin’s stint on Dancing With The Stars.
In a previous post, Aoibhin praised her husband and the Ascent Himalayas team for their dedication, but admitted that she was glad to not be going any further as the drop in altitude “doesn’t agree” with her.
“Reached Everest Base Camp yesterday…stayed the night there and am in awe of John and all the Ascent Himalayas team who will spend another 5 weeks or more there.
“It’s an amazing place but glad to be dropping in altitude already (it doesn’t agree with me)…here’s to a safe few remaining days in The Himalayas and a safe expedition for the #everest2017 team.”
