Aoibhin Garrihy has opened up about the pressure that new mums feel to bounce back after pregnancy.

The new mum just gave birth to her second daughter last night.

The Fair City actress revealed that she is going to make the most of the cosy winter evenings and bond with her new born.

“I going to really embrace the hibernation period of winter and have those duvet days and that downtime you should have with a newborn,” the star told EVOKE.

“There’s a lot of pressure on new moms to bounce back which is ridiculous.”

“It took nine months to grow this little human, it should be that and more before you even start to feel remotely like yourself again.”

“There’s pressure that we just don’t need – it’s hard enough.”

Aoibhin is already mother to little Hanora, who is one and a half.

Aoibhin’s husband John Burke shared a powerful snap of his wife in labour last night, praising her for bringing their daughter into the world.
