Anne Doyle denies Dancing With The Stars rumours

The RTE star was rumoured to be a contestant on the show

Anne Doyle had denied that she will be a contestant on the Irish version of Dancing With The Stars.

The former news anchor was said to be joining the most anticipated show RTE has had since The Late Late Show – but she shut down any talk that she would be dancing on the show.

“Not only am I not doing it, I only discovered in the last 24 hours I was apparently spotted at a boot camp or whatever,” she answered when asked if she was to dance on the show.

Denied: Anne revealed that she will not be a contestant on Dancing With The Stars | VIPIRELAND.COM

Anne admitted that she won’t be appearing on the show as a contestant because she has, not two, but THREE left feet.

“No it’s not true. I would like to thank all the people for giving me their warm good wishes, pledge me their vote and to those considerable number who have asked me for tickets, sorry, I don’t know how you get them,” she told Anton Savage on his Today FM.

“Anton, I have three left feet if you can grabble with that concept. But hey, I love the idea and I am a fan of Strictly.

“I know this is going to be the American format but similar. [I’m] big fan of Strictly and will be a huge fan from the comfort of the sofa.”

Comeback: Anne retired from RTE in 2011 after 33 years with the broadcaster | RTE

Having retired in 2011 after 33 years with RTE, the Dubliner spoke about working with the broadcaster again on The Ray D’Arcy Show where she hosts the good news segment.

“It wasn’t [weird going back to RTE.] When I dropped in, really very rarely since I retired, I found that it was a little odd,” she revealed.

“But the curious thing about going back in for Ray’s show was that it felt a bit like, I won’t say coming home, but it felt a bit like work – obviously with a fun element.

“And though there are many, many changes – lots of my old pals aren’t there anymore – there are still lots of familiar faces. It was rather nice and people are very welcoming. Sometimes they have forgotten you’ve gone [so] they say ‘Gone but not forgotten.'”
