Anna Geary has opened up about her magical wedding to Kevin Sexton.
Anna and Kevin wed last week, and have been enjoying an Irish mini-moon since their nuptials.
The pair wed in Anna’s local church, before taking the celebrations to Castlemartyr Resort – where Kevin proposed to Anna last September. Anna described the day as the happiest in her life.
“I’ve never been as happy as I was on the day,” she said.
“Often with weddings there can be a lot of pressure, but for us it was all about how you felt in the moment,” she told the Sunday Independent.
“There’s so much stuff put on social media and we wanted to take it away from that and enjoy what was happening in real time.”
Anna noted that she will take her husband’s name to become Anna Sexton, but will maintain her maiden name in a professional capacity.
“We were checking into a hotel and they called me Anna Sexton and that was lovely but I’m known from camogie as Anna Geary,” she explained.
The sports star has been enjoying a mini-moon with her new husband, visiting both Donegal and Mayo in the last week.
She revealed that the couple will be taking a honeymoon in the future, but are in no rush.
“We’re like every young couple – we just bought a house and got married – I don’t know where we’d be getting the money for a big trip,” she said.
“But we’ll do that next year.”
