Amy Huberman has revealed her husband Brian O’Driscoll picked up an unlikely hobby during lockdown.

The couple have been married since 2010, and are parents to two kids – Sadie, 7, and Billy, 5.

Speaking to Jenny Greene on RTÉ 2fm about life during lockdown, Amy said: “I don’t know what I’ve done with the last five months.”

“I have nothing to show for it. Except, I guess, just getting through it.”

“I finished a job just before and I was going to take a little bit of time off, but especially when you work for yourself you get into this thing ‘oh maybe I should be writing and doing this’ but I didn’t get there,” she said.

“You know what, it was just making sure the kids were okay, and adjusting. I think initially it was really nice, and then towards the end like a lot of people I’m looking forward to getting back to some kind of normality – well, I don’t know what normality is anymore.”

“With work, some things are on hold, other things we’re waiting to hear, and I think that’s the case for a lot of people.”

Amy then confessed Brian found a love for baking during isolation, as he enjoyed the extended time off work and travel.

She said: “I think it was just keeping busy, normally Brian is on the road and he’s travelling and he didn’t have work to keep him busy in that way so he started baking.”

“He was very good actually – but there has been a lack of baking in the last while so I need to send in a letter to management.”

“But yeah I think it was the sourdough that broke him, and he was determined, he has that sportsman competitiveness but he hasn’t quite got there,” she joked.

“He wanted to do it himself, like that he just can’t sit around, so he just kept painting things and baking things.”
