Amy Huberman: ‘Acting is a career you have no control over’

The actress admits she has other creative outlets she is involved in

Amy Huberman has admitted that she thinks that acting is a career you have no control over.

The mother-of-two stars in RTE’s newest drama Striking Out with British actor Neil Morrissey – but opened up on how fickle the acting world can be.

“Acting is a career you have no control over,” she said

Amy explained that sometimes actors can be pigeon-holed but revealed that acting is her passion over her other career, writing.

“I do love being able to do a bit of both. I guess acting is my first love but it’s a career you have no control over really,” she said on RTE’s The Late Late Show.

“You don’t know how long it’s going to last. I guess the others happened organically because in a way it gave me control over my time and was another creative outlet that i was able to get involved in.

“I love being on set because writing, as much as I enjoy it, it can be kind of lonely. You don’t have people to bounce stuff off.”

The 37-year-old also revealed that she now has an office for her to learn her lines in – a room where she can hide from her children, Billy and Sadie O’Driscoll.

“I only got myself an office this week and I was toying with it for so long because I thought I can’t continue like this, learning lines in my car or in the laundry room with the sock basket.

“It’s not a creative environment trying to hide from the children,” she added.
