Aisling O’Loughlin hits out at TV3 after ratings claim

Aisling O’Loughlin has hit out at TV3, after the station claimed that Xposé has seen a huge boost in ratings.

The station claimed that their ratings had jumped from an average of 42,100 to 58,000 per episode since moving back to the original half-hour slot, and axing show favourites Aisling O’Loughlin, Lisa Cannon and Peter O’Riordan.

“Xposé’s previous hour-long slot was recently averaging 42,100 viewers and a 4.7% share. Since we went to half-hour slot in September, the average viewership is 58,000 per episode with an average 6.5% share,” a TV3 spokesperson told The Mail on Sunday.

However, Aisling has since hit back at TV3 – and insisted that their ratings claim is in fact untrue.

Sharing a screenshot of Goss.ie’s article on the apparent ratings boost, Aisling wanted to “set the record straight”.

“May I just set the record straight for the sake of decency and fair reporting. I was quite content to be gracious and say nothing about the show’s sliding ratings and then this release from TV3 which is nothing short of breath-taking.

“Anyone can check the Nielsen ratings to verify. The average audience for Xposé was certainly not 42,100 and a 4.7% share when I worked for the show. That would have been a bad day at the office.

“Moving to half an hour should boost ratings anyway but it has not. 58,000 and a 6.5% share is not a ratings boost by a long mile and again would have been a bad day at the office. Can we please stick with the facts? No problem with fair reporting, would take it on the chin,” she wrote.
