Aidan Power lands new TV role after absence from Ireland AM

Aidan Power has landed a new TV role following his absence from Ireland AM.

The Irish presenter has been noticeably missing from the show since August, with The Sunday World reporting his departure last week.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Aidan revealed he had taken on a role commentating for ShowTime Sports in the US.

Posing alongside American mixed martial arts pro Josh Thompson, the 42-year-old wrote: “That was fun! Thanks @bellatormma and my mentor 😂 @therealpunk for guiding me through my US debut on @shosports What a night! #bellator26.”

During his debut gig, Aidan gave feedback on the match between welterweights Michael “Venom” Page and Douglas Lima.

Aidan has not yet addressed his absence from Ireland AM.

The Dublin native joined the show’s weekend slots in February 2019, where he has primarily reported on sports.

News of his departure from the show came just weeks after Virgin Media announced a number of changes to their presenter line-up.

Muireann O’Connell has moved from The Six O’Clock Show to Ireland AM, essentially swapping roles with Karen Koster.

And following the cancellation of her midday show, Elaine Crowley has landed a hosting role on Ireland AM too.

Laura Woods was reportedly made redundant by Virgin Media last month, and Anna Daly also announced her shock departure from Ireland AM back in August.
