A Paul Mescal look-alike contest is set to take place in Dublin this Thursday.

Flyers for the unofficial competition have popped up around the city – calling all those who look like the Irish star to attend.

According to the flyers, the event will take place on November 7th at 1pm in Smithfield Square.

The prize for the best Paul look-alike will be three pints or €20 with lads set to pull out their favourite GAA shorts to try and emulate the Maynooth native.

Paul himself will be in Dublin that day for the Irish premiere of his latest blockbuster Gladiator which takes place that day.

This follows last month when actor Timothée Chalamet made a surprise appearance at a viral look-alike contest for the actor in New York.

The event drew huge crowds with bodyguards surrounding the Dune star as he posed for pictures with other Timothée look-alikes – all dressed as characters from his films.

At points during the event, many look-alikes were mistaken for the actor himself and drew the attention of others.

The contest was advertised by flyers around New York City – one of many organised by YouTube personality Anthony Po.

The event saw thousands of people RSVP as the word began to spread across social media – going viral.

The winner of the contest was promised a small prize of 50 dollars.

However, the large crowd was ordered by the police to disperse from Washington Square Park – before the event even began.

The organisers were given a $500 fine for hosting an “unpermitted costume contest.”

One contestant was taken away in handcuff by the police – a reason has not been given.

Paige Nguyen, a producer for the YouTube creator Anthony Po, confessed: ““It started off as a silly joke and now it’s turned pandemonium.”

The Timothée look-alikes relocated to a different park where the contest began.

The contestants were asked a number of questions such as plans with Kylie Jenner or to speak French – all in an attempt to find the best Timotheé,

Miles Mitchell, a Staten Island student, was chosen as the winner with his purple Willy Wonka outfit.

After his win, he confessed: “I’m excited and I’m also overwhelmed. There were so many good look-alikes. It was really a toss-up.”
