Kathryn Thomas on marriage and kids: 'I'm getting more broody now'

Kathryn Thomas has revealed she’s become more open to the idea of marriage and children with boyfriend Padraig McLoughlin.

The TV star thinks everything is in the right place now for her to start a family and she can already feel herself becoming more “broody”.

“Padraig has an 18-year-old son Conor who is amazing and they get on so well and are so alike. Does he want more? He’s not against the idea at all,” she said.

“For me, everything is in place now and I am getting more broody, certainly than I was anyway,” she told VIP Magazine.

“At 37, as my mum and my friends would say, ‘you need a kick in the rear end!’”

Although she’s feels ready to start a family, Kathryn makes no apologies for being a busy career woman.

“If we’re lucky enough (to have a family), then yes. But again it’s the age-old thing of being a successful woman, having a drive and focusing on your career.

“A lot of my friends thought that settling down was never meant to be for me, but I feel I am very settled now.

“I have the utmost respect for people who choose to stay single, but I am not that person,” she said.

“I love being in a relationship, because I think it’s a lovely honour to bring the best out in someone and to share your life with someone who is your best friend.

Although she has never fantasized about her dream wedding, Kathryn feels more “open” to the idea of walking down the aisle.

“I never had the vision of the white dress, and it’s not something that I ever felt would make a huge difference to me,” she added.

“But I think from a legal perspective, it makes sense if you want to have a family.”
