Twink admits: 'I'm not banging on doors for work'

Stage star Twink has insisted she’s not going around banging on doors asking for work.

Instead the 64-year-old, who hasn’t made an appearance on the stage since pulling out of a Limerick panto in 2014, has focused her energy on her growing cake business.

“I’ve said it all my life – I never gave a rat’s ass about it. When a gig comes up like on the telly and they ring, I’d say, ‘Oh, yeah’, but I’m not up banging their doors,” she said.

“I never did it. They come looking for me, if something comes up. So I’m happy to go along with it.

“I’m not one of those artists that you open the fridge door and the light goes on and they perform for 20 minutes,” she told the Herald.

Although bursting with pride, the panto queen admitted she missed being on the stage when watching her daughter, Chloe Agnew at her solo show at the National Concert Hall.

“I was saying to people afterwards that it was nights like this when I missed being up there on the bloody stage,” she revealed.

“Chloe was just marvellous, and the night went by in such a blur. It was amazing, a really incredible night and I was so proud.”
