Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wont be spending Christmas with the royals

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will reportedly not be spending Christmas with the Queen and the rest of the royal family.

Speaking to Sky News, royal expert Angela Levin explained that Meghan’s difficult year has led to her craving space from her royal life.

“I think it is a gigantic step but I’m not really surprised by it. It’s sort of been coming,” she said.

“If your wife feels that she’s existing and not living, she’s unhappy and you are going through a difficult patch as well”

“It’s very demanding, it’s very regimented over Christmas.”

“You know, you can’t eat after the Queen stops eating, you can’t go to bed unless the Queen has gone to bed. Everything is absolutely on time,” she claimed.

Her comments come after a source told The Sun that the decision came as the couple decided they “needed to recharge their batteries” by spending the festive period away from Sandringham.

“They need some time away to recharge and decide their plans for next year.”

The couple are taking a six week break from royal engagements, but it was previously expected that they would return to royal duties in time for the festive season.

It is believed they will spend Christmas in the US with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.
