This is why Kate Middleton’s appearance at Wimbledon will be her last public outing ‘for a while’

Kate Middleton delighted fans when she stepped out for the Wimbledon Men’s Final over the weekend, amid her battle with cancer.

The Princess of Wales was greeted with a standing ovation as she headed into the Royal Box with her daughter Charlotte and sister Pippa on Sunday afternoon.

The 42-year-old appeared in high spirits throughout the game as she smiled and laughed with her nine-year-old daughter.

In recent months, Princess Kate has taken a step back from public royal duties while she undergoes her cancer treatment.

However, the mother-of-three was present to watch Spanish reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz take on veteran Novak Djokovic in the Grand Slam final.

After winning the game, Carlos was presented his Wimbeldon trophy by the Princess.

The Princess of Wales donned a £1,295 bespoke dress from the designer Safiyaa for the occasion.

Kate is a well-known tennis fan and has been patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club since 2016.

This was the Princess’ second public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

While fans are delighted to see Kate back out and about, it may be a while before we see her in public again.

Royal sources have told Vanity Fair that William and Kate are now on a “summer break”, and plan to stay “below the radar” at their Norfolk home while she continues her course of preventative chemotherapy.

Sources close to the family revealed they will not be traveling abroad this summer while Kate undergoes treatment, but said they are excited to visit King Charles and Queen Camilla in Scotland next month.

In June, Kate joined the rest of the Royal Family at Trooping the Colour, the King’s official birthday parade – which marked her first public appearance since she announced her cancer diagnosis.

A source told the outlet: “There were two dates she really wanted to make.

“She wanted to be at Trooping to support the King and at Wimbledon because she goes every year and it brings her great joy.”

Last month, the Princess also returned to social media to give an update on her cancer treatment.

She wrote: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me. C.”
