Prince Harry to return to the UK following Royal Family birthday tribute

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK later this month to attend a charity event in London.

The Duke of Sussex, who is a patron of the charity, was announced as a guest at the annual WellChild Awards.

This return comes just days after the Royal Family wished the Prince a happy birthday for the first time since 2021.

WellChild is a national charity for seriously ill children and was one of the few organisations which did not cut ties with Harry after he stepped down from royal duties.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working members of the Royal family in 2020.

There are no reports yet that the Duchess of Sussex will accompany her husband on the visit.

Last week, Prince Harry received a shock birthday message from Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The relationship between the two brothers became strained after the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare.

However, the Prince of Wales seemed to have put their feud aside and wished The Duke of Sussex well as he turned forty.

The last time the Duke got a happy birthday on the Royal Family account was three years ago in 2021.

That year was also the last time the Prince and Princess of Wales sent a birthday message to Harry.

This followed reports which claimed Prince Harry “won’t return” to royal duties unless Prince William “apologises.”

The Duke and Duchess stepped down as senior working members of the Royal family in 2020 and relocated to the US – which is now their permanent residence.

Prince William and Prince Harry reunited to attend the funeral of their uncle Robert Fellowes earlier this month.

Locals in Snettisham, Nortfolk have revealed the pair were both in attendance at a service for Lord Fellowes, who died last month.

The last time the estranged brothers were seen in the same room was for their father King Charles’ Coronation over a year ago.

It was previously reported that Harry wouldn’t make the funeral due to security concerns, amid his ongoing legal battle with the Home Office over his police protection in the UK.

However, it has since been claimed the 40-year-old quietly travelled to Britain this week to attend the service for the 82-year-old.

While both William and Harry were seen at the funeral, onlookers didn’t witness them speak and they reportedly sat apart at the back of St Mary’s Church in Snettisham.

A local in the area told The Sun: “I didn’t know they were there. They arrived very discreetly.”

Another said: “William and Harry were both there but we never saw them speak to each other and they were keeping their distance.”

Lord Robert Fellowes was married to William and Harry’s aunt, Lady Jane, and was brother-in-law to their late mother, Princess Diana.

Robert also worked as an advisor to Queen Elizabeth for 13 years.

The Duke of Sussex’s last visit to the UK was in May, when he attended a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark ten years of the Invictus Games, which he founded.

Harry invited his father, King Charles, his brother, Prince William and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, to the Service of Thanksgiving commemorating a decade of the Invictus Games on May 8th.

However, none of them were in attendance at the special event.

Instead, the 40-year-old was supported at the service by several members from Princess Diana’s side of the family — including his aunt Lady Jane Fellowes, his uncle Charles Spencer and his cousin Louis Spencer.

The Duke was seen warmly embracing his family at St Paul’s Cathedral – however, no other senior royals were present as the King hosted his first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace.

Meanwhile, Prince William conducted investitures at Windsor Castle on the same day – including awarding an MBE to Claire van Straubenzee for the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund.

And as its widely known, Princess Kate is currently undergoing cancer treatment, which was discovered after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

Earlier that week, Prince Harry confirmed that he would not be able to meet with his father King Charles during his visit to the UK due to the monarch’s “full” schedule.

A spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the U.K. this week, it, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Harry previously returned to the UK in February to visit his father after he revealed his ongoing battle with an unspecified form of cancer.

It’s understood he also reached out to William and Kate after her shock cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.

Shortly after the Princess of Wales revealed her diagnosis to the world, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle released a short statement wishing her “health and healing”.

The couple said they hoped Kate and her family would be “able to do so privately and in peace”.
