Meghan Markle sent her father one final text the night before her wedding, according to an upcoming biography.
Finding Freedom tells the story of Meghan and Prince Harry’s romance, and their decision to step down as senior royals.
In new extracts from the book, it is claimed that Meghan tried one more time to get her father Thomas Markle to her royal wedding – despite releasing a statement at the time saying that he would not be attending, and that Prince Charles would be walking her down the aisle.
In new excerpts of the book in the Sunday Times, the biography states that Meghan texted her father hours before her big day, saying she would send a driver to his house to get him to LAX, if he still wanted to be at her wedding.
This was just weeks after Thomas admitted to posing for fake photographs for paparazzi.
“If it wasn’t for Harry, Doria and her friends, Meghan herself says that she wouldn’t have mentally got through it,” a friend said.
“The night before the wedding, she sent her father one last text. He did not reply,” the book adds.
“Sitting in a bath later that night, FaceTiming with a friend, the bride-to-be said she had left her dad a final message, adding: ‘I can’t sit up all night just pressing send’.”
Royal reporter Omid Scobie has co-written the 320-page biography with journalist Catherine Durand. Omid in particular is known to have a close relationship with Meghan.
A spokesman for Harry and Meghan have officially said that the pair did not contribute to Finding Freedom, but they also didn’t deny the content of extracts.
