Meghan Markle may face legal charges due to new brand logo

Meghan Markle could face legal charges as the logo for her new brand As Ever (formerly known American Riviera Orchard) resembles a Spanish town’s coat of arms.

According to Balearic Islands newspaper Ara Balears, Xisca Mora, who is the mayor of the Mallorcan town of Porreres, is “studying the case with the legal services of the Consistory to see what course of action should be taken from the municipal level.”

Although Xisca is yet to make a decision, the outlet explained that she is also considering the positive possibility that Meghan’s new brand logo could place more attention on the small town.

Porreres is a municipality in Mallorca with a population of just over 5,000 people.

“Many people around the world will become aware that in Mallorca, there is an inland town that has this coat of arms. We feel international. It’s surreal,” said Xisca, according to Ara Balears.

Porreres’ coat of arms features a palm tree and two birds flying toward it. Whereas Meghan’s logo is almost identical except that it is black and white, as opposed to colour.

This comes only a day after the Duchess of Sussex announced the relaunch of her lifestyle brand, one year after its initial release.

Meghan took to Instagram to share a video of herself in her garden, which began with Prince Harry playfully saying to her: “It’s recording.”

Meghan wore a loose-fitting white shirt and denim jeans with her hair pulled-back and said laughing: “The cat’s out of the bag.”

“I’m shocked we kept this a secret for so long. In two weeks, my show is coming out which I’m so excited for and also my business which I think there’s been a lot of curiosity about,” she continued.

The former Suits actress explained that she secured the name As Ever in 2022 and it “essentially means as it’s always been… I love cooking and crafting and gardening. This what I do.”

“Of course, there will be fruit preserves. I think we’re all clear at this point jam is my jam. But there’s so many more products that I just love. I use in my home and now it’s time to share it with you.”

In the video’s caption, Meghan wrote that As Ever will be “an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish…”

On top of the brand relaunching, a rare photo of Meghan and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet is gaining a lot of attention on the As Ever website.

On the website’s homepage, the couple’s only daughter can be seen running around their back garden in Montecito.
