Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie to be given new title once Prince Charles is king

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie will be given a new title after Prince Charles is crowned King of England.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will become a prince after Charles becomes a king, according to Express.

Although the tot is only one, at the age of 18 he will be allowed to decide his title –  either Prince Archie or His Royal Highness.

Archie is seventh in line to the throne and will move up the line of succession when his 71-year-old grandfather becomes king.

Although Meghan and Harry have stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family, their young baby will still technically become a prince when Harry’s father ascends after Queen Elizabeth II.

When Charles becomes king, either after the Queen steps down or dies, the line of succession will be Prince William and his children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — followed by Harry and then Archie.

Archie will be subject to rules according to the 2013 Succession of the Crown Act and will be required to ask the monarch for permission to marry – which will likely be Charles or William when Archie becomes old enough to wed.

The regulation also applies to George, Charlotte and Louis.

“Should the children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wish to marry, they will be required to seek the sovereign’s permission,” royal expert Iain MacMarthanne told the Express.
