King Charles celebrates 76th birthday as fellow royals share special tributes

King Charles has celebrated his 76th birthday, and his fellow royals shared special tributes.

Despite his birthday being in November, the Trooping of the Colours in June officially celebrates the monarch’s birthday – but that didn’t stop the tributes.

Buckingham Palace was among those who issued a special message for Charles as he turned 76.

Taking to the Royal Family’s Instagram, they shared a pic of King Charles, writing: “🎂 Wishing His Majesty The King a very Happy Birthday today.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales similarly shared a birthday message for the King on their social media.

Prince Wiliam and Kate Middleton posted a picture of Charles with wearing sunglasses with a wreath around his neck.

They said: “Wishing a very Happy Birthday to His Majesty The King!”

The Trooping is held every year as an official birthday event for the monarch in June, even though Charles’s actual birthday is on November 14 – becoming an annual event from 1760.

The event marked the first time Kate Middleton had been seen in public for the first time following her cancer diagnosis.

In March, the Princess of Wales announced that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, which was discovered after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

Following the announcement, the Princess took a step back from public work with no date given on her return.

Kate has joined the rest of the Royal Family at Trooping the Colour ceremony for the first time since her diagnosis.

The mother-of-three joined King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and the other royals on Buckingham Palace’s balcony for the RAF flypast.
