Sick day? Hector mysteriously missing from Today FM just ONE day after returning to radio

Hector O’hEochagain was mysteriously absent from his Today FM slot this morning – after only joining the station yesterday.

The former 2FM star made his long-awaited radio comeback yesterday, warming up for Anton Savage in Ray D’Arcy’s former slot.

But listeners were surprised when comedian Neil Delamere was back.

Starting the show, Neil said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Hector can’t be with us today but we hope to have him back with us very soon.” He added: “Sorry to start off the day with bad news.”

The Galway presenter was initially due to debut in the Today FM hot seat two weeks ago but was forced to delay his comeback due to suffering from a virus.

Speaking on Monday, Hector confessed on his Today FM debut that he was finding the new early mornings tough after months of late sleeps.

He added: “I’ve been sleeping. I’ve been sleeping past 5am, 5.15am, 5.25am on the snooze button, past 6am, and been sleeping past having my Ready Brek and driving that lonely road in.”

Hector’s Today FM gig comes almost one year after he was famously axed from RTE 2fm director Dan Healy  and has since vowed to never return to his old station.

Despite the axe, ratings on 2fm’s The Breakfast Republic did not improve and lost up to 13,000 listeners following Hector’s departure.
