RTE star Derek Mooney is reported to be getting ready to quit his much-loved radio show.
The Montrose presenter has been hosting the Mooney show every weekday afternoon on Radio 1 since 2006.
Now it has been claimed that the 47-year-old – who has been at RTE for more than 20 years – is leaving in the New Year.
However sources told Goss.ie that so far the host has yet to tell bosses that he is planning to leave.

The Irish Mirror claim he wants to focus on new projects, mostly beloved nature shows for radio at TV.
A source said: “It’s not happening straight away but Derek is planning to quit his slot next year.
“He’s been in the game for a very long time and has a very loyal and dedicated group of listeners on Mooney.
“But his passion is nature and wildlife programmes and he has been feeling for a while that it’s time for a change.”

If he does quit it would be a blow for RTE as Mooney – who makes €220,000 a year – has a daily listenership of 219,000.
An RTE spokeswoman told Goss.ie: “There’s no plans for any radio changes between now and the end of the year. I can’t comment on next year.”
Previously Mooney said his RTE One show Secrets of the Irish Landscape is the programme he is “most proud of” in his career.
