Radio star Hector O’hEochagain has told how it has “been a sad week” after his mum’s sudden death.
The Galway presenter recently made his highly anticipated return to radio on Today FMÂ on Monday, ahead of Anton Savage’s first day.

And Hector, 45, has now thanked his fans for the support over the tough few days.
He said:Â “Its been a sad week just want to say thank you for all the kind words.”
Hector has received floods of support and condolences from fans on social media after they learned of Trina’s passing.

Hector previously revealed that as well as inspiring him to get into radio, his famous phrase “keep her lit” came from his mother always having a candle burning in the house.
Comedian Neil Delamere – who took over for Hector following his departure –Â told listeners that “we hope to have him back with us very soon”.
He continues to remain one of Ireland’s most popular radio stars following his 2FM axe, with former show The Breakfast Republic losing 13,000 listeners following his departure.
