Popping the champers: Ryan Tubridy celebrates as he GAINS 27,000 listeners for his 2FM show

2FM star Ryan Tubridy is cracking open the champagne today – after seeing his ratings boosted by an astonishing 27,000 people.

The RTE presenter now has a massive 171,000 tuning into his morning show, up from the low of 144,000 three months ago, according to official JNLR figures.

Bosses have now confirmed to Goss.ie that Tubs, 41, is definitely staying on 2FM – following rumours he would be shunted back to Radio 1.

An RTE spokeswoman said the the Late Late Show host was now “flying” following the ratings boost, adding: “This shows he has made his mark”.

It has also emerged that he has signed a sponsorship deal for the show with Supervalu Insurance, which was being offered at €200,000 annually.

It is a massive boost for Tubs who has seen his figures constantly dropping since taking over from Gerry Ryan, who once commanded 296,000 listeners.

But as Tubridy shoots up, Today FM rival Ray D’Arcy has seen his listeners dwindle by 2,000, down to 221,000 and Ian Dempsey is stable on 196,000.

While Radio 1’s John Murray has gone down by 11,000 to 302,000 as listeners change their habits.

It now means Ryan Tubridy is once again the most listened to presenter on 2FM after six months of being overtaken by Nicky Byrne.

The Westlife star has 141,000 people listening to himself and Jenny Greene, compared to 145,000 three months ago.

While Breakfast Republic – the morning show presented by Jennifer Maguire, Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh – has lost 11,000 and is down at 100,000.

Previously RTE had said this was the last chance for a number of their presenters to boost their numbers, or they risked losing their show.

Meanwhile Pat Kenny has added some more listeners to his Newstalk programme, up 8,000 to 142,000 from 134,000.

But Sean O’Rourke has lost 12,000 and goes under the 300,000 marker to 295,000.
