Matt Cooper’s wife has revealed that she was once held at gunpoint by a stalker.
Aileen Hickey, who works as a barrister, opened up about the terrifying ordeal on TV3’s Midday as the panel discussed stalking on social media, and admitted that she had been stalked once herself.
“I was actually stalked…Â It was a good few years ago when I was working in the States, waitressing.
“The dishwasher took a shine to me and kept asking me out. He was buying me concert tickets and following me around the place,” she said.

The mans infatuation with Aileen quickly turned into a more serious situation as he started to follow her home at night, and then one night – he showed up at her hotel room door.
“I would wake up in the middle of the night and his car would be outside.
“It culminated when I was staying in a motel and he turned up one night with a gun.
“He was saying, ‘You’re going to the concert or I’m going to shoot you’. He was pointing the gun at me,” she explained.

Thankfully, Aileen was saved after passers by realised her had a gun, and tackled him to the ground.
“A whole crowd of people came over and got him to the ground and took the gun off him.
“We didn’t report him to the cops in America because my friend was there illegally. That was scary.
“I don’t know what became of him after that,” she added.
