Lottie Ryan on following in dad Gerry's footsteps: 'I never felt like I had to prove anything'

Lottie Ryan has revealed she never felt like she had anything to prove as the daughter of the late Gerry Ryan.

The Dublin native has followed in her fathers footsteps by pursuing a career in broadcasting – but insisted she never felt pressure to step out of her Dad’s shadow.

“I never felt like I had to prove anything to myself,” she said.

“Maybe other people were looking for an element of that, but I think everything has happened so organically for me that I feel like it all had a very natural progression.”

“I was in college for five years and was an intern for a long time. I started out small and by the time The Early Early Show was put in front of me I had been in the business for five years.”

Lottie – who’s dad Gerry passed away April 2010 – admitted she still loves listening to his old broadcasts.

“It’s a great gift to have. It’s like having an incredible amount of home recordings,” she told the Herald.

“I always enjoy listening back to his shows. I never had a problem with him talking about me.”
