Sticking with tradition: Larry Gogan to play 2FM's first Christmas tune tomorrow morning

It must be Christmas time – because Larry Gogan is set to hit play on 2FM’s first Xmas tune tomorrow.

The RTE legend will be popping into Ryan Tubridy at 9am with the Christmas song that will get the festivities started.

The 76-year-old is keeping up his decades old tradition of playing the station’s first Christmas song on December 1.

Bookies Paddy Power have even started a book on what track Larry will be choosing for the occasion.

On top – at 1/3 – is Fairytale of New York, by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl. But not far behind, at 2/1, is Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You.

They also have Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody and Band Aid 30 in with a shot as well.

It comes ahead of 2FM’s special Christmas event on Friday, where they will be broadcasting all day from the Benetton window on St Stephens Green.
