Jamie Heaslip hopes to be next King of Radio when he retires – after his first TRY out with Nicky Byrne

Irish rugby star Jamie Heaslip has hinted he’d like a career in radio when his rugby career ends.

The Leinster player dipped his toe in the water when he stood in for DJ Jenny Greene last week on 2FM’s The Nicky Byrne Show.

Now the world class number eight has admitted it could be for him when he retires from the pitch.

“It was just Jenny was unavailable that day and I was able to stand in,” explained the rugby star.

“I really like radio. It’s a really good medium and a lot of people still like to listen to light entertainment with music”

However 30-year-old Jamie admits he wouldn’t be interested in covering sports.

He said: “I will never be a pundit, that doesn’t interest me.”
