Is RTE's Beat on the Street getting a reboot?

Rumours are rife that 2FM bosses could bring back the famous Beat on the Street gigs that took place in the 1990’s.

The free open-air concerts that took place all over the nation could be brought back to boost listener figures.

The station isn’t ruling out the opportunity to kick-start the renowned gigs again which were fronted by radio icons Ian Dempsey and Dave Fanning.

“Of course we would consider any marketing ventures like the Beat on the Street and if budgets allowed for it.

“The events were very successful in the past and we could have a modern twist,” a 2FM spokeswoman told the star.

Bringing in tens of thousands to the festival-style gigs, the part 2FM sponsored concerts ran over the summer in different counties around the country.
