DJ Tony Fenton back on air next week after month of cancer treatment

DJ Tony Fenton will return to Today FM next wekk after a month off batting cancer.

The renowned broadcaster, 52, took time off to undergo treatment on extremely aggressive prostate tumours.

But now Tony – who is back on the air from 2.30pm on Monday – said he is feeling better.

“My head is good. My mind is good. I’m really looking forward to getting back on air. I always try to stay positive on things,” he told the Irish Sun.

Pals revealed that Tony had told bosses in Today FM he was willing to work without taking time off – but they wanted him to take a rest.

A source said: “Tony is such a professional, and wanted to work every day. But it was felt he needed a rest, so he could benefit from the treatment he was getting.”

Previously Tony admitted his cancer battle made him look at life differently.

“It is terrible, life shattering, but has so many positives. It gives you a better outlook poson life, as it does to anyone who goes through a cancer scare,” he said.

“You look at things differently… you realise, ‘isn’t it great to be alive … to be with family and friends.”
