Brian O'Driscoll joins Newstalk's Off The Ball after ending rugby career

Brian O’Driscoll has signed up Newstalk’s Off The Ball after playing his final rugby game.

The former Irish rugby player has signed a deal with Newstalk following his last Leinster appearance on Saturday.

And BOD admitted it was an “easy” decision to sign up to the programme – which he will officially join this summer after a trip to America with wife Amy Huberman.

He said: “Making the decision to join the Off the Ball team was an easy one for me – it’s the nation’s leading sports show and best radio station and following a break this summer I’ll be more than ready for it come September.”

Brian has also been tipped to sign on with TV3 to commintate during the Rugby World Cup.

This morning, Newstalk Chief Executive Gerard Whelan said: “It is with great excitement that we welcome Brian to Newstalk.

“Brian is one of the very few truly global sports icons, and we know that his addition to the Off the Ball team will provide our listeners with a sports insight and commentary not found at any other station.”

It is yet another major signing for the independent radio station, after they lured Pat Kenny away from RTE.
