2FM's Louise McSharry won't return to radio for at least SIX months as she undergoes chemo

2FM presenter Louise McSharry won’t return to radio for at least six months as she battles cancer.

The RTE star shocked listeners when she revealed she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The 31-year-old will now be off air as she undergoes chemotherapy – which she has an 80% chance of recovering from after the first series of treatment.

But Louise’s 2FM pal Eoghan McDermott – who used to go to school with the star – said she won’t be back until at least May 2015.

He said: “I was flabbergasted when I heard. I’ll be filling in for whoever is filling in for Louise when she’s off.

“But it’s all up in the air at the moment – we’ll know more next week. She’s taking six months as a definitive and obviously if she needs more than that afterward she can take it.

“It was awful but the prognosis is very good. She’s had a tough run – it’s scary because we’re the same age and you almost take your health for granted at this stage”.

Yesterday Louise insisted she would recover from the cancer, as she revealed the news to the nation.

Good prognosis: Eoghan was shocked by cancer news

Speaking at the launch of the Cannonball, Eoghan added that he plans to continue living between the UK and Ireland despite a new 2FM weekend show.

“All my stuff is still over in London, so I’m going over next week for a week to get a lot of it,” he said.

“But I’m going to leave quite a bit it over there – a couple of things are happening and hopefully one will ignite. We’ll see what happens though.”
