YouTube star Gabby Petito laid to rest

YouTube star Gabby Petito has been laid to rest.

The funeral for the 22-year-old took place on Sunday in Holbrook, New York, one week after her body was found in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

Her father Joseph said in his eulogy: “Gabby is the most amazing person I’ve ever met. I’m asking you guys to be inspired by the way she treated people, all people… She genuinely loved people.”

“When you leave here today, be inspired by what she brought to the table,” he added. “I couldn’t be more proud, as a father.”

“If there’s a trip you want to take, take it, now. Do it now while you’ve got the time. If there is a relationship that you’re in that might not be the best thing for you, leave it now.”

Gabby’s stepfather Jim Schmidt also spoke at the memorial service, and made reference to the tattoo on her arm which read ‘Let It Be’.

According to PEOPLE, he said: “It’s okay to mourn for Gabby, and it’s okay to feel sorrow and pain. But we want to celebrate her and how she lived her life. We need to hold on to all of those wonderful memories we shared with her, because that will be the answer. Let it be.”

In lieu of flowers, Gabby’s family are asking for donations to foundation they plan to launch in her name.

Gabby was reported missing by her family on September 11, after her fiancé Brian Laundrie returned home from their road trip across the US alone.

Brian, who has been declared a person of interest, was reported missing by his family on September 17.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Brian on September 22 over bank card fraud following Gabby’s death.
