Three Taylor Swift concerts cancelled over suspected terror plot

Three Taylor Swift concerts have been cancelled in Vienna over a suspected terror plot.

The singer’s Eras Tour gigs were scheduled to take place this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Ernst Happel Stadium.

Austrian law enforcement have confirmed that two people were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of planning attacks on large events in the Austrian capital.

A statement from the organisers said: “Taylor Swift the Eras Tour Vienna shows cancelled due to government officials’ confirmation of a planned terrorist attack.

“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”

The statement also confirmed tickets for the gigs would be automatically refunded.

The pop singer is yet to comment on the situation.

According to Vienna state police director Franz Ruf, a 19-year-old man who was arrested allegedly pledged his allegiance to the terror group IS.

It’s alleged that the two men arrested had been radicalised online, and had specific and detailed plans to carry out the attacks.
