Ryan Dolan throws hat into Eurovision contest – as he hopes to prove he isn't always a flop

Ryan Dolan is hoping to prove he’s not a life-time flop by representing Ireland again at the Eurovision.

The Tyrone singer was humiliated when he finished last in the Eurovision in Malmo, Sweden, two years ago with Only Love Survives.

Fans were shocked as the 28-year-old received just five points, after being tipped by Graham Norton to win.

However RTE have now allowed anyone to enter the Eurovision by submitting a song after they scrapped the mentor system in a bid to boost our chances of winning.

And Ryan said he now wants to come back and “prove” he isn’t just a flop.

“I want to come back and prove I can do better. Going from last to first would be some story,” he told the Star.

Competition: Michele, Leanne and Kim are hoping to win Eurovision

“I’m working on a track myself and I’m pleased with the way it’s going. I’ve been working to a lot of other tracks but nothing has grabbed my attention so far.

“But if something comes along that blows my socks off in the meantime, I’d be delighted.”

Goss.ie yesterday revealed that Michele McGrath, Leanne Moore and Kim Hayden have formed a supergroup to try and win.

Former X Factor star Mary Byrne is also hoping to win the competition. So are Jedward, who claim they want to go a third time.
