V Festival is no more!

V Festival has always been a special weekend for festival lovers everywhere.

However, sad news has been cast over the festival scene as Virgin have announced they are ending their partnership with the festival.

Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group announced yesterday that although it has been an honour to sponsor the festival for the past two decades.

Last year’s festival saw many incredible acts including Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Jess Glynne, Rihanna, David Guetta, The Kaiser Chiefs and more.

Although it will no longer be called V Festival, bosses have announced that the event will still go ahead on the same weekend as always, but it will have a new name.

“Thanks for being a great sponsor @Virgin. ???? The name of the new festival that continues on the same weekend in 2018 will be announced soon,” they wrote on Twitter.

A blog post by Richard on the Virgin website reads, “Being part of V Festival has been an honour and there are some amazing moments that will stay with me forever – including introducing Paul Weller and welcoming V2 Records’ first signing The Stereophonics to a massive audience.”

Branson explained both on the Virgin website and on Twitter that his company is pursuing other musical avenues “to ensure music is a force for good”.
