Ed Sheeran delighted over 800 Irish fans with a special performance in Dublin last night.
Even though over 100 competition winners were left angry when they were turned away from Whelans pub, the special gig still went ahead, with a host of celebrities in attendance.
The Thinking Out Loud singer took part in VH1’s Storytellers, chatting to guests at the Dublin venue in between belting out his most popular songs.

Speaking to the crowds Ed said he was adamant to play the gig in the Dublin venue.
“VH1 told me I could play any venue in the world and I chose Whelans,” he told fans as well as thousands of people tuning in live around the world.
As well as competition winners attending the gig, Ed invited a host of celebrities to get a VIP experience, even celebrity lawyer Gerald Keane getting a coveted gold wrist-band.

Model Claudine Keane was lucky enough to get a gold wristband for the event. Â The wife of footballer Robbie Keane even got a selfie with the singer after the event.
“Such an amazing night at Ed Sheeran concert. He is such an incredible talent & fantastic guy,” she captioned the photo.
Tony award nominee Sarah Greene was also spotted at the gig with boyfriend and star of The Hobbit Aidan Turner. The actress was seen enjoying the gig and hanging out with Love/Hate star Laurence Kinlan.

Ed’s performance was streamed live on MTV around the world, with thousands of fans serenaded by the red-haired singer.
Fans took to Twitter to share photos of the intimate performance, showing the British star looking chuffed on stage.
“Wow such an amazing gig from @edsheeran in @whelanslive for his @VH1 gig.. I think I’m in love,” one fan wrote.

There was controversy last night after over 100 fans who won tickets to the gig were told the venue was already at full capacity.
However there seemed to be a long list of Irish celebrities inside. Also seen enjoying the special gig were Jedward, 2FM host Eoghan McDermott and Gavin James.
